Andrew M. Isaacs is a successful scientist, business executive, entrepreneur, and educator. He has worked at the crossroads of advanced technology and business innovation for 30 years, 15 of those years at UC Berkeley, helping start-ups and established technology companies create and execute successful growth strategies, with a special focus on innovation at energy and information technology firms. Isaacs began his career as an exploration geologist, before being recruited to the position of Senior Scientist at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. He was recruited from NASA to Silicon Valley, where he has worked as a scientist and executive in public and private technology companies since 1983. Isaacs’ principal focus in Silicon Valley is the information technology industry, and includes facilitating the bi-weekly meetings of top CIOs in Silicon Valley’s leading CIO consortium. Isaacs joined the UC Berkeley faculty in 1999, and has served as the Executive Director of the Management of Technology Program for 10 years. His graduate courses include Opportunity Recognition, Marketing Emerging Technology, and Energy, Sustainability and Business Innovation. He is passionate about mentoring the next generation of technology business leaders and has a strong track record of helping entrepreneurs launch their careers.

Whitney Hischier is a lecturer in management and consulting at the Haas School of Business. Previously,  Whitney was the Assistant Dean for the UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education at Haas which offers open enrollment programs for individuals and customized programs for companies.  Her role includes co-developing programs with clients, as well as coaching clients on maximizing the impact of their learning and development programs.  Additionally, she serves as a coach for the MBA International Business Development program, helping MBAs hone consulting skills on international client projects.  Prior to Haas, Whitney was a consultant for Deloitte, San Francisco, KPMG London and ABN Amro bank in Amsterdam.  She holds a BA from Stanford and an MBA from Haas.

Dr. Peter S. Fiske is the Chief Executive Officer of PAX Water Technologies, Inc. PAX Water has pioneered the use of biomimicry (adapting nature’s best designs to man-made engineering problems) to develop innovative and energy efficient technologies for the water industry. PAX Water is widely recognized as the market leader in energy-efficient mixing systems for potable water storage tanks and the company continues to apply its patented design technology to other problems in the water system.

Prior to joining PAX Water, Fiske was co-founder of RAPT Industries, Inc., a pioneer in the field of plasma processing of optics and semiconductors. Fiske led negotiations to license a portion of the technology to a major semiconductor equipment manufacturer, and led the first sales of products. Fiske was CEO of the Company from May, 2001 to April, 2004. Fiske spun the company out of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he was a staff scientist.

Fiske is the author of 24 technical articles, most in international peer-reviewed journals including SCIENCE. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1994 and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley in 2002. In 1996, Fiske was one of 18 young professionals selected nationally for the White House Fellowship. He served his fellowship year as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Special Projects where he led a major personnel policy reform initiative for the Pentagon. Fiske is a nationally-recognized author and lecture on the subject of leadership and career development for scientists and engineers and writes a regular column in the journal Nature. He is the author of To Boldly Go: A Practical Career Guide for Scientists (1997) and Put Your Science to WORK! (2000).

Cort Worthington is a full-time lecturer in Leadership at the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business.  A leadership consultant, his organizational client list includes Exxon Mobil, Sumitomo Bank, Oracle, Square, the US Army, Kaiser, Yahoo!, Pixar, McKesson, the US Olympic Team, and Stanford University.

Prior to teaching at Berkeley, Cort was co-founder of toy company Primordial, LLC, where he raised capital and served as Director of Operations.  He also worked for many years as a film producer, directing documentary crews around the world.

Other relevant experiences include fourteen seasons leading elite teams as a forest fire fighter and parachuting U.S. Forest Smokejumper, which piqued his interest in emergent strategies and improvisational principles as applied to leading within complex, dynamic systems. He has been actively utilizing improvisation as a methodology for enhancing leadership skills since 1997.

Cort holds an MA in Communication from Stanford University, an MBA from Columbia University Business School, and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
